In fact, 95% of our new knifes are proudly being made in the USA.
Buck steel - it delivers a superior blade:
Steel is the heart and soul of a knife. And yet it's what we do with our steel that makes our knifes more reliable. There are three basic criteria by which you can measure the quality of a blade:
Blade retention - how long the blade will last. Buck blades, by test, stay sharp longer.
Ductility ; strength - how much force your blade can withstand. Achieving the ideal Rockwell hardness provides the perfect combination of these two features.
Corrosion resistance - protecting it from the elements. Selecting the ideal steels for the task and processing them properly will provide years of reliable use.
The quality steels we use:
S30V - Supreme combination of blade retention, ductility, hardness, toughness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. For optimal performance, we harden to a standard Rc 59-61.
12C27 MOD Sandvik - Supreme corrosion resistance with great ductility and strength for wear resistance and durability. For best performance, we harden to a standard Rc 58-60.
13C26 Sandvik - Great blade retention and hardness for wear resistance and strength. For best performance, we harden to a standard Rc 58-60.
420HC - Our standard steel, with great blade retention and corrosion resistance. The industry standard is easily resharpened. For best performance, we harden to standard Rc 58.
